Roadworks to commence in Gordons Bay
06 October 2023
The City of Cape Town’s Urban Mobility Directorate will be starting with a road resurfacing project along Beach Road and Faure Street in Gordons Bay. The project will cover the entire stretch of road between the points where it links on to Faure Marine Drive. The work will commence this week and is expected to be complete by 29 November 2023.
This project will include:
- The repairs of kerb, channels and isolated block paving, as well as isolated surface and base failures.
- The replacement and placing of new bituminous surfacing layers.
- The reconstruction of existing speed humps
- Redo of pedestrian crossings, and the installation of road signs and markings
'We are aware of the frustration that road users may experience during this construction, however, we would like to inform you that traffic will be deviated away from the construction and traffic will be accommodated in both directions. The resurfacing will be done during the day from 08:00 until 17:00 on week days,' said the City's Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Mobility, Councillor Rob Quintas.
Road users are requested to use alternative routes during this period. The safety and convenience of the travelling public are of utmost importance and every effort will be made to ensure that courtesy is always extended to the public.
The City of Cape Town's Urban Mobility directorate would like to thank road users for their patience in this infrastructure-led project to improve the road network.
